TAPE LOOMS
Before the Industrial Revolution it was quite common for households to have a Box Tape Loom, Paddle Loom, Backstrap Loom etc. for the making of Inkle straps. Common fibers used were wool, linen, cotton and silk if affordable. These could range from 1/4" wide on up in order to serve the purpose they were needed for. Inkles were used for a wide array of purposes such as ie. belts, shoelaces, bodice lace, pocket straps, nice trim on clothing, powder horn straps, possible bag straps, gun straps etc. As there was no velcro, zippers etc. , Inkle straps served the purpose. We are making Box Tapelooms for sale, please let us know if we can help.
The Tapeloom below is the prototype of the tapelooms that are available to the Fiberholic. By leaving the screws showing we can build these at a little more affordable price to purchase. Hopefully this will fill a void for fiber people that want a tapeloom but are not heavily involved in Re-enactments. We all have watched how much the spinning wheel has evolved so why shouldn't other fiber tools. We will be offering a more traditional looking loom to the Historical Correct enthusiast but the cost will be higher. These looms have 31 dents, removeable heddle for ease of transporting and are realatively light in weight. No two will be quite alike as they are handmade. Wood choices will be  Walnut (as shown below), Cherry, Maple, Oak and some exotic woods will be available for additional cost. Price;s start at   $159.95 w/shipping of $15.95 in the lower 48 States. We accept paypal and Money Orders. If you have interest in ordering one feel free to contact us. As they become available pics  will be shown below and in our Etsy shop.
